Northampton's Famous - V V Brown

V V Brown

'Vanessa Brown was born in Northampton. She is the eldest of six siblings and is of Caribbean parentage, her mother being Jamaican and father being Portuguese. She attended Overstone Park School near Northampton, which her parents own and work at. Brown learned to play the piano, developed her vocals and took classical and jazz piano lessons at a musical arts school which she attended at the weekend. Growing up, Brown listened to early 20th-century jazz artists like Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie. Brown gained four "A" grades at her A levels, studying at Kingsthorpe Upper School (now Kingsthorpe Community College) a year early and was offered places at five top UK universities including Oxford, King's College London, LSE and York. She declined the offers to follow a career in music.'

Love where you live - Ellie Bevis

Student housing provides the perfect safe environment for young people to live and gain their independence. Students love living here! It's not expensive and it's close to town and university, and we don't have to worry about people breaking in and stealing our stuff.

I LOVE NORTHAMPTON!

People have no love for our glorious town. But why? Is it because there aren't any good shops to spend our money in? Is it because our buildings look like they are stuck in a time warp? No jobs? Nothing to do? Nowhere to go and eat except a pub, nandos or italian? Who knows exactly why, but people wouldn't live here if they didn't at least like it. So many great things happen in Northampton, so many great people come from Northampton. We need to fall in love with Northampton, or back in love with it, LOVE the place you live, or why would you live there?
